5th Specialisation Review

In the fifth series of Specialisation Review, I’ll look back on my 5th specialisation I did on Coursera with University of Illinois on Digital Marketing specialization (Comprising of 7 courses).

I took this course as I was to further enhance my marketing skills and to also input some data skills which I’ve learnt. This specialization made me realized how the marketing landscape has changed dramatically and that we must adapt to keep up with the times.

As per previous posts, I wish to share some learning points and I hope will be beneficial to you as it had been to be

1) I’ve learnt various terms such as the Pay what you want model and the Freemium model. It may be understand the rationale for corporations’ decisions. Without this knowledge, one may not know the reasons for certain decisions made.

2) The different marketing platforms such as content marketing and influencer marketing. These platforms are things we are exposed to everyday. With this lesson, it allowed me to see the beauty behind such actions.

3) As the world becomes more digital, there is still room for the analogue world. This is part of the “Digital Resistance “ concept which explains the value Analogues brings such as tangibility.

I’m truly appreciative that I took this course which is also an iMBA course by the University. With plans to take an MBA in the near future, I believe this course is a good starting point.
