In the third series of Specialisation Review, I’ll look back on my 3rd specialization I did on Coursera with University of California, Irvine Extension on Project management and Other Tools for Career Development specialization (Comprising of 5 courses).
This was a good break for me as this course required less technical aspects and allowed me to sharpen my project management skills. I truly learnt a lot here and with my project management experiences, it allowed me to reflect on practices in the past and how I can ensure success while leading future projects.
Some facts which I’ve learnt and I hope will be beneficial to you as it had been to be
1) I’ve learnt the concept of the Triple Constraints which is time, money and quality which has to be well-managed in a project.
2) Next, there are different stakeholders who fit in different positions in the Power/Interest Grid. Depending on the position, it would affect how you work with them.
3) When using the work breakdown structure, one has to follow the 8/80 rule to ensure efficiency.
Through this course, it was a personal development process for me. I believe having equipped with these content knowledge, I’ll be in a better position to execute projects.
