1st Specialisation Review

In the first series of Specialisation Review, I’ll look back on my 1st specialization I did on Coursera with ie Business School on Marketing Strategy Specialisation (Comprising of 5 courses). I took this specialization as I’ve always had an interest in the business sector and since I had some prior experience in Marketing, I believe this would be a good place to start my online courses. I also wish to use what I’ve learnt here in my work place.
I would wish to share some facts which I hope will be beneficial to you as it had been to be.
1) In Marketing, what is important is not how you perceive your brand to be but how your consumers perceive your brand to be. Thus, market research would have to be conducted so you know which communication strategy is best to reach out to them
2) One cannot market a product to the general populace but it would be prudent to segment, target and position accordingly.
3) There are many different distribution channels available such as Social Media Marketing, Digital Marketing, Sales Force and Sales Promotion. Each has its pros and cons.
Being my first specialization, it has made me realized the beauty and complexity of marketing. I’m more confident with my skills and am better able to understand why a corporation carries out activities in a certain way
